Principal's Message

My name is Sean Harrington and I am the Principal of Dixon Elementary School. On behalf of our Vice-Principal (Mrs. May Wong) and our amazing Dixon Staff, I welcome you to Dixon Elementary School's web site. This is my first year as an administrator here at Dixon and am very excited about what we have planned for the coming year.

Dixon School is a Kindergarten through Grade Seven Dual Track Elementary School with a current enrollment of about 320 students. We have 16 Divisons(classes) where 9 of our Divison are french Imersion and 7 are English. We boast an incredible staff of professionals, paraprofessionals and support staff who are dedicated to creating a rich, exciting, and extensive educational experience for every child who comes through our doors.

Dixon is a fully integrated school with a strong support team for our special needs students. Our band program (grade 5-7) is strong and healthy, a show choir performs regularily, boys and girls play basketball and volleyball, practice track and field, and learn ways to keep fit. As well, our Junior and Senior Student Council is very active. They plan special 'spirit days', are involved in local and global environmental pursuits, raise funds for our  programs, designs their own initiatives determined by the students themselves. We have our annual Cross Country Running programs, Volleyball Teams, Basketball Teams, Primary Games Program, Dragon Day Sports Day. Our Grade 6/7 students go to Camp, and to Quebec every two years (alernating years). There is a lot happening at Dixon and we are gratetful that so many staff and parents volunteer their time to enhance the student experience at Dixon.

School Mission Statement: "Together we support each other in our quest for personal excellence and value the richness brought to our community through cultural and individual diversity”.

School Motto: Working Together, Learning Together, Growing Together.

Parents are also a huge part of what makes Dixon a fantastic community school.  Check out the Parent Advisory Council (PAC) link to see more information on how you can get involved and join the team. Please do not hesitate to call for an appointment to see our school. We will be proud to show you our building, and the wonderful people within its walls.
