Admin Report

  • Mike requested someone from PAC to attend the recognition assembly on Tuesday June 24 at 1pm. Colleen recommended Jenna to attend to get recognized of the amount of effort Jenna has put in.
  • Staffing Update
    • Admin Assistant S. McAuley will move on to another position. Someone will come temporarily from September to November.
    • Due to declining enrollment, Admin Assistant Nicole Ali’s position will be cut to 1 day a week. She will move to Diefenbaker where she continues to work 2 days a week. Kristy Parmar will come to replace her.
    • Dixon will lose a division. Teacher staffing is not confirmed.
    • Dixon will continue to have 5 EAs.
  • There is no update on the result of the Track and Field survey. All students from Grade 4 to 7 were asked to complete the survey.
  • Renovation progress is on schedule. Classrooms will be in place by September. Gym will get new floor in the summer. Office will move in second week of September.
  • Dixon will have Speech pathologists coming to the school. The idea is that kids and EAs from the district will do training with special devices at Dixon. This will lead to professional development of our staff and also help raise profile of the school.
  • Margaret Hill requested to buy badminton nets, volleyballs, and possibly bean bags. Jenna pointed out that the PAC has unspent gym equipment budget for her.

      • Use MunchaLunch to sell tickets.
    • Simi suggested food trucks, but there could be minimum spending. She will look into it.
      • We could just sell cookies.
      • Or, we could use MunchaLunch vendors: pizza, Ttop Kitchen, or Tandoori.
    • PAC should start announcing the date.
  • Babysitting course is being suggested on Sept 25 Pro D day.
    • Requires minimum enrollment (12 people).

    • Mike wants to think about it later.

    • No one has stepped up other than Simi.
    • Is it time to kill the Craft Fair if we are losing interest?
