PAC Meeting Minutes of April 19, 2021 

 

Dixon Parents Advisory Committee 

Location: Zoom meeting due to COVID-19 pandemic related restrictions on social gatherings

1. Welcome 

 

Jennifer McMillan called the meeting group to order at 7:04pm and welcomed all present. 

 

2. Introductions 

 

All present introduced themselves. 

 

3. Review and Approval of Agenda 

 

The Agenda was MOTIONED by Jen, SECONDED by Michelle. 

 

4. Review and Approval of Minutes of Last Meeting 

 

The Minutes of the last meeting, were APPROVED by Jen, SECONDED by Billie, and CARRIED by all. 

 

5. Administrator’s Report 

 

· Congratulations to our Sun Runners who completed their virtual Sun Run yesterday – Special thanks to Ms. Maika who works so hard to train and cheer on these students. 

· This week Dixon Celebrates Earth Day with daily activities. Thank you for your support in helping us celebrate taking pride in our Earth! Special thanks to our Student Council and sponsoring staff members! 

· Covid-friendly Track and Field starting April 26, 2021. 

· Bollywood Dance will have to wait until next year 

· Welcome to UBC student teachers: Ms. McCormack, Mr Quan, and Ms. Owen. 

· Author Visit with Mr. Eric Walters, who wrote Hockey Night in Kenya, via Zoom, on April 21 and 28th 

· High School transition meetings have begun for our grade 7’s 

· Grade 7 plans including yearbook and graduation celebration are underway 

 

6. PAC Chair’s Report 

 

· Planning on updating Bylaws. 

· There will not be a PAC meeting in March, next meeting April 19, 2021. 

 

7. Treasurer’s Report 

 

Billie provided an update: 

 

i. Gaming account 

a. Beginning cash balance $12,689.84 

b. Bank balance as of April 19, 2021 is $12,076.35, minus $300.00 outstanding scholarship cheque, resulting total balance is $11,776.35. 

 

ii. General Fund account 

a. Bank balance as of April 19, 2021 is $28,179.21, minus $1,128.18 for outstanding Munchalunch cheques, resulting total current balance is $27,051.03 

 

 

8. Fundraising Committee’s Report 

 

· Spring fundraising initiatives include Plants, Pies, Dine-to-Donate 

· $1,495.62 raised from DFS 

· $300.00 raised from Steveston Seafood House Dine-to-Donate program. 

· A huge thank you to everyone who participated in our fundraising initiatives. The Fundraising Committee is always looking for new ideas and volunteers for year long fundraising initiatives.
