Focus: How can we support all learners to identify a sense of connection, belonging and positive personal and cultural identity in our Dixon Community?
Our students are learning about the Peoples of the hən̓q̓əmin̓əm̓ language group being on our land 14 000 years ago. We are learning about our own family stories and our own journeys to Richmond and about the stories of the Peoples of the hən̓q̓əmin̓əm̓ language group might go together and create a new story going forward. We learned that the Peoples of the hən̓q̓əmin̓əm̓ language group travelled across what we now know as Richmond. We are learning about why and how might we express gratitude for our land to the Peoples of the hən̓q̓əmin̓əm̓ language group. This learning takes patience and time.
