PAC AGM Tues April 5, 2016 @ 7PM Library
On Tuesday April 5 we will be holding the annual AGM for Dixon PAC and we'd like to encourage those of you who may have never come to a meeting, or have only come once or twice to come along to this one.
As always, all places on the executive will be open to anyone wishing to put their name forward - if we have more than one person we will vote, so we're hoping to have a great turn out! Additionally, there are a number of coordinator positions to fill. If you have questions about any of the positions, please feel free to contact us at dixonpac@gmail.com or chat with any of our current execs.
For those of you new to the school or to PAC, here is a brief list of positions that we hope to fill each year. Please note that many of them can easily be shared by 2 or 3 people, thus sharing the load. We are in particular need this year as we have a number of graduating parents and in order to continue to provide our kids with the wonderful extras each year, we need more help.
Executive Positions
PAC Chair: Sets the agenda, chairs monthly meetings. Consults with other executive members and may be spokesperson for executive decisions. May ensure committees/groups are created when specific items come up (ie. a group looking at gaining information on building benches by the playground). Ensures constitution and PAC policies are followed and maintained, calling votes if the question of changing policies comes up.
Vice Chair: Supports the chair, may take over responsibilities if need arises. Chair and Vice can also be framed as co-chairs if decided by the group.
Secretary: Takes minutes at each meeting, collates and distributes them. Sends them to the website maintenance person for publishing on the PAC site.
Treasurer: Maintains all financial records for the PAC. Receives and disburses funds as directed. Is responsible for filing financial reports.
Fundraising: Without whom, we don't have funds to disperse! Plans and implements a variety of fundraising activities which have incuded food days, movie nights, QSP and the annual Craft Fair.
Coordinator Positions
Earthquake Supplies: Once a year coordinates helpers to go through all the emergency supply bins for classrooms, changes out expiring/expired food and juice. Checks batteries and other supplies are complete and up to date. Manages other miscellaneous emergency supplies.
Food Days Coordinator(s): Plans and runs the monthly food and popcorn days. May be responsible for purchasing food items, however often there are others who can help with this too. Prepares the food packages as per the Munch a Lunch orders. Coordinates the food day volunteers who come to help out on the day.
RDPA: Attends the monthly Richmond District PAC Association meetings (currently being held at the school board offices at Granville and Minoru). Reports back to the PAC any information that needs to be relayed. Often RDPA asks for feedback from PACs and the representative would take Dixon info back to the district meeting.
Workshop Coordinator: In conjunction with other PAC members who meet with the Principal to discuss the school's plan for the year. Brings the information back to the PAC meetings and shares any concerns or thoughts PAC may have with the administration.
Support Volunteers: This may be someone willing to go to RDPA meetings if the rep is unable to go, people able to come out on food days and help ensure food is dispersed quickly and correctly to the children, bakers for bake sales and short term/small group committees. In the past we have had parents research booster seats for the school's supply, meet to discuss the changes to the front parking lot, look into specific workshops and a number of years ago there was a special committee for the building of the playgrounds.
There are many chances to pitch in, we welcome any help big or small!
