 Minutes of the Meeting of June 10, 2019

1.Welcome & Introductions

Sandra Townsend called the meeting group to order at 7:00 pm and welcomed all present.

 

2.Review & Approval of Agenda

Sandra motioned for approval of the agenda. Motion approved by all.

 

3.Review and Approval of Minutes of last Meeting

Sandra motioned for approval of the minutes of the meeting held May 13, 2019. Motion approved by all.

 

4.Administrators’ Report

Principal Sean Harrington reported as follows on staffing for the next school year, as well as upcoming events for the remainder of the year, which include the following:

- Planning for our Gr. 7 Farewell day here at Dixon 

- Wednesday, June 12th Band Concert (1:30 and 6:30 pm) 

- Wednesday, June 26th - Grade 7 Farewell assembly (9:00 am) 

- Thursday, June 27th - Last day of school.

As well:

- Gormond Steet (onto which the back parking lot exits) will receive a cross-walk.  

- Fruits and Veggie program being introduced and brought into each classroom, so that students have regular access to the healthy food choices. 

 

5.Treasurer’s Report

Laura Gillanders provided a detailed report on PAC finances.  The Operating account holds $23,616,76 and the Gaming account $6,861.09.  School allotments not yet spent  are $3,636.51 and Gaming allotments not yet spent are $1,050.  Thanks to the great efforts of the Fundraising Committee, and all those that helped, the PAC was once again able to have a successful financial year and support many Dixon school activities, including in the classrooms and sports programs.  The Gaming Grant application for next year has also been completed and submitted.

Motion:by Karen Fisher-Hagel, seconded by Sandra Townsend, to add a line item to the Budget headed “Track Program” and allocate $500 from the Gaming allotment to it, in order to assist school staff in their spring track and field programs.  Motion approved.

 

6.Fundraising Update

Monies raised at this year’s Dragon Day will be earmarked for the 2019 “Camp Trip” from grade 6/7.

Only one pizza days is left for the remainder of this school year.  Planning for next year’s food/pizza days is already underway. 

 

7.Additional Items

Motion:by Diana White, seconded by Sandra Townsend, that a $100 be approved to be paid to Domino’s Pizza as a gratuity to be given to the drivers who this year delivered all the pizza’s on ‘pizza days’.  Discussion: next year a tip is to be given to the driver on the day of ‘pizza day’. Motion approved.

Sandra, as out-going Chair, thanked everyone on the PAC for their dedication to, and efforts on behalf of the school and students during their tenure as PAC members, and PAC members extended the same thanks to Sandra.

 

Motion to Adjourn Meeting:

MOVED, SECONDED and CARRIED that meeting be adjourned at 8:00 p.m.

First 2019/20 School Year Meeting:To be determined by the new Council.
