DIXON PAC MEETING MINUTES 

Tuesday, April 14, 2026

Welcome & Introductions

- Call to Order: 

- 6:32 pm called to order 

- Quorum has been met per current bylaws 

- Teg gives a Land Acknowledgement to thank the hǝn̓q̓ǝmin̓ǝm̓ speaking peoples on whose land we live (over 16 different groups that travelled along our neighbourhood); recognizing the traditional lands of the Coast Salish peoples and reflecting on continued learning and awareness.

- Review and Approval of Minutes from last meeting: 

  • Jenna moves the motion, Rainbow seconds, all approve

Admin Report

  • Universal lunch feedback – 1st lunch was not good, 2nd one was good
  • Babysitting course – babysitting heroes are booked solid and will not be able to do our course this year, but they did mention to reach out next year for the course
  • Track meet will take place on Wednesday May 20th – more information to come out in the next week
    • It will be the same day as the welcome to kindergarten event @1:30pm
      • There will be more new kindergarten’s than last year but less than previous years
  • Tomorrow evening there will be a meeting with grade 7 parents to help plan grade 7 activities and yearbook
  • Grade 5/6 parents were reached out for grade 6/7 camp and swimming verifications sent out for now
    • The cost will be sent out later and price will be going up this year; it will be around $400 this year (75-80$ increase)
    • Supervision ratios for our outdoor trips remain the same and the school is smaller
    • Sept 16-18
    • Program is staff dependant, if staff do not assistant then the program will not run
  • Request for funds
    • Replacement some of the iPads – 12 of the iPads need renewing
      • $5000 from the PAC to purchase “Tech Tubs” – plastic boxes to store devices and charge them, each tub includes 6 iPads and we want to purchase 2 to be put into classrooms
      • We are leasing devices instead of purchasing them and the school will pay the remaining amount
      • Want to have a tub into each classroom if teacher permitted
      • Currently, we have three carts of iPads and one cart of laptops
  • Parking lot
    • Drop off area will move to the north side of the building and traffic direction will be reversed; busses will be able to drop off in the lot instead of on the roads

Chair Report

  • AGM – notice sent out to our PAC members that AGM is coming up
    • Calling for Dixon exec and other groups
    • Colleen will be departing from chair position
    • The new exec team will run the June meeting with the support of the current exec team
  • Craft fair
    • Two leads will be stepping down
  • Hot lunch – Colleen will ask if there needs to be a call for additional members
  • Movie night/spirit wear/Purdy’s events
  • Teacher appreciation event
    •  3rd or 4th week of May
    • Will need volunteers for this event to do Costco runs/set up

Treasurer’s Report 

  • Gaming account balance $8,200, one uncleared cheque for library materials
  • General account balance under $56,000 with some cheques that are to go out soon
  • High school scholarships for McMath and Hugh Boyd students, will be touching base with them
  • Charity return 
  • Gaming applications just opened

RDPAC 

  • AGM is coming up next month for them and they are accepting applications – they do voting by schools

Routine updates

  • Hot lunch 
    • Happening this Thursday 
    • Needing volunteers – not all volunteers sign up on the excel sheet, but they do show up in person – if needed we might be able to get grade 7 students to assist
    • Hoping to use the gym as of space issues
  • Movie Night
    • Conversation about which movie to show due to availability 
    • May 1st

Welcome back event 

  • With the assumption that the school will be done in September
  • Dance event in the school gym instead of a doing movie night – rocknbeau party
    • Two hours for $1250
    • Can do tickets for students for $8 and free for parents and food can be under the undercover area – maybe a bbq or a food truck – Oct 2 is the aim – Teg to chair this event
