DIXON PAC MEETING MINUTES
Tuesday, May 12, 2026

Welcome & Introductions
- Call to Order:
- 6:38 pm called to order
- Quorum has been met per current bylaws
- Teg gives a Land Acknowledgement to thank the hǝn̓q̓ǝmin̓ǝm̓ speaking peoples on whose land we live (over 16 different groups that travelled along our neighbourhood); recognizing the traditional lands of the Coast Salish peoples and reflecting on continued learning and awareness.
- Review and Approval of Minutes from last meeting:

Admin Report
- Kids in Grade 3-7 completed a belonging survey, which is a district survey
- Survey completed to find out how kids feel in the different spaces in the school, if they belong in the community, this information is used to determine how kids are feeling and any hot spots in the building that need to be addressed
- Student learning survey completed by the Ministry of Education was completed by grade 4/7 students
- Questions regarding physical activity, reading, culture, math – used by Ministry of Education and other ministries such as health
- Tech survey was completed by staff
- Asked what they use technology for – results to be shared at June PAC meeting
- Welcome to Kindergarten event will take place the same day as track meet
- May 20th at 1:30pm
- Welcoming 28 kindergartens for French/English
- Grade 7 year end planning is coming together, with Bruce and Logan doing the yearbook
- Mike wants to thank those that are leaving PAC and for the support given to him and staff
- School enrollment for 2026/2027 year
- 51 Grade 7 students leaving
- 28 kindergartens coming in
- Ken mentions that the school board gets funding based on the enrolment levels from Ministry of Finance
- International student reduction has impacted the budget as well – close to 1millon loss in revenue and the school board is currently at a $4.2 Millon deficit
- Projecting low enrollment for the next couple of years
- Ken mentions that most schools are moving to location-based names
- To avoid any issues if named after a person and facts come up
- New school will be opened in September
- Ken mentions that there has been lots of feedback for the track meet in regard to no ribbons/combining genders
- The superintendents will conduct a survey after the track meets have been completed at the end of May and the results will be announced on at the June 17th school district meeting that all can also attend

- PAC meetings will continue with the virtual/in-person meetings
- Hot lunch team will remain the same
- Fundraising team needs a concession movie nights partner – will send out a callout
- Mike will take over spirit wear
- Dixon craft fair needs two more leads – will send out a callout
- Welcome back event will take place Sept 25th from 6-8pm
- There will have a food concession and selling of glow sticks and bands
- The day is a Pro D day for Dixon, not a district wide Pro D day
- It will be a ticketed event – hoping to use munch-a-lunch to allow for tickets/pre-ordering food
- Teg makes motion to pay for the dj, Colleen seconds, all in favour
- Staff appreciation event will take place on May 26th and set up in portable 3
Treasurer’s Report
- Gaming balance is $7,741 with a few uncashed cheques from Ms Petersen for the library
- General account $53,600 with $3,800 in uncleared cheques
- We budgeted higher than what we actually spent
- Gaming application to be submitted before June
- High schools have been reached out, and both cheques have been cashed and they were very thankful/appreciative – they’re working on their selection process on which student to pick
RDPAC
- Volunteer appreciation event will take place on June 2nd from 6 – 8:30pm at McNair
- Two representatives from each school
Other Questions
- Movie license to be renewed in December
